On November 21st, I attended gBETA Alaska's Pitch Night at the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ Pub, and it was nothing short of inspiring. As someone who works at the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ College of Business and Security Management (CBSM), which hosts the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ Arctic Innovation Competition (AIC), it was great to witness the incredible innovation and entrepreneurship happening in Alaska--and the strong ties between this community and CBSM.

Revamping Success: The Power of CBSM's Professionally Polished Program

During the week of October 7th, CBSM kicked off a partnership with °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ alumni-owned businesses Frank’s Menswear and In My Element. With funding from Enterprise Mobility and Spirit of Alaska Credit Union, this program helped over 20 students leave with new clothes and a newfound confidence.

Anchoring the Future: °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ CBSM Students and the Alaska Blue Economy Center

With the mission of connecting the University of Alaska Fairbanks' business students to the seafood industry in Alaska and supporting fishery sustainability, Alaska Blue Economy Center (ABEC) and the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ College of Business and Security Management have collaborated to deliver meaningful opportunities for the college and potential benefits for the industry. CBSM student and alumnus, David Sauter, has been participating in the fishery sustainability certification space and engaging with stakeholders representing regulators, sustainability certification bodies, seafood harvesters and processors, and Alaska Native organizations representing communities dependent on sustainably managed fisheries.
