Financial Aid

Financial Aid can help pay for tuition, fees, books, supplies and even living expenses. Kuskokwim Campus works closely with funding agencies within the region and across the state to locate available funding resources for our students.

Advisors provide individualized financial aid advising and FAFSA workshops in villages throughout the region.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid opens on Oct. 1 of each year. However, in 2020, Congress passed the 'FAFSA Simplification Act,' which represents a significant overhaul of the FAFSA application process. As a result of these changes, the 2024-2025 FAFSA Application will be delayed until December 2023. 


Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The (FAFSA) will determine your eligibility for federal grants and loans, state grants and scholarships and some private scholarships. The FAFSA should be submitted every year and is available October 1 for the following fall. There is not a deadline for the FAFSA, but we recommend completing before February 15 to be considered for all °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ scholarships. The state of Alaska requires the FAFSA by June 30 for state aid, including the Alaska Performance Scholarship.

The Federal School Code for °®ÎÛ´«Ã½/KuC is 001063.

You will need the following for both you and your parents (dependent students):

  • Social security number
  • Driver's license (if any)
  • W-2 forms and other records of money earned
  • Untaxed income records including social security, TANF, welfare or veterans benefits

Frequently Asked Questions

Financial aid can help pay for college.   Financial aid covers tuition, books, fees, supplies, and living expenses.  There are several different types of financial aid.   Grants and scholarships are considered gift aid, or free money, meaning they do not have to be paid back.   Loans have to be paid back, and you are usually charged interest.

Kuskokwim Campus awards higher education scholarships to new and continuing KuC students. There are two sources of financial assistance available, which include:

  • UA Foundation Need Based Tuition Waiver,
  • UA Foundation Kuskokwim Campus Scholarship.

The number and amount of scholarships vary.   The Kuskokwim Campus Financial Aid Committee reviews applications before the beginning of each semester for the two different UA Foundation Scholarships.

To receive financial aid you must  be a student who is enrolled in a degree program and attending college full or part-time.  The majority of students attending Kuskokwim Campus are less than part-time, so the requirements for our financial aid differ.

To be eligible to receive financial aid you must be enrolled for a Kuskokwim Campus course or plan to enroll, have financial need, and have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and satisfactorily completed previously funded courses.   Due to limited funds, not all applicants are awarded scholarships.

You can apply for financial aid if you're a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and are enrolled or plan to enroll in a course at Kuskokwim Campus, have financial need, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and satisfactorily completed previously funded courses.

To receive financial aid, you must be 'in good standing' (GPA of 2.0 or higher).   Aid will be suspended if you fail to complete your funded course(s) with the minimum GPA, have no pending incompletes within the last three years, or must have at least two semesters of successful completion after a series of withdrawals, or incompletes, and satisfactorily completed previously funded courses.

All scholarships awarded by KuC shall receive a Scholarship Award Letter.   The student will need to accept or decline the scholarship, sign the form, and return it to KuC. Once the award is accepted, the scholarship will be processed through the respective fund, with the award being applied directly to the students account.
