What are Living Learning Communities?

LLCs bring together students with similar identities, values or needs to be each other's neighbors in their residence hall. A successful first year of college looks different for every student. We offer programs to appeal to a diverse set of interests and structure them so students are given opportunities to adjust to °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ academically as well as socially.

Students develop a strong friendship with fellow students while gaining a deeper connection to the university with the support of faculty and staff. Students can expect to participate in fun and educational in-house activities and events with Resident Assistants who are a live-in resource with the same field of study or interest.

There are both first year and continuing education living learning communities. Depending upon your field of study, year at UAF, or personal interest, you can choose from a variety of options. There are limited spaces available though, and applicants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis, so make sure to reserve your spot early!

After completing a Housing Application, you will get access to the LLC Applications via your housing portal.
