°®ÎÛ´«Ã½ School of Education students awarded Teacher Internship Scholarship
The °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ School of Education is proud to announce that 41 °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ education students were awarded approximately $838,000 in scholarships through the Alaska College of Education Consortium UA Teacher Internship Scholarship program.
The Teacher Internship Scholarship is open to students in a UA education program, who are Alaska residents and who have a junior level standing or higher, as a means to support them through the completion of their teacher certification program. The Teacher Internship Scholarship includes both tuition and fee coverage and a living stipend of $5,000 each semester students are working as full time interns in a K-12 classroom. °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ awardees came from the following BA or post-baccalaureate programs: elementary, secondary, special education, K-12 art, and music education.
Collegiate study can pose financial barriers to students who need to work to support themselves and their families while they attend classes. °®ÎÛ´«Ã½â€™s rigorous internship year is often a point where students must begin focusing solely on their educational practices and no longer have time for work. The scholarship is designed to help them through this year. Here’s what our students are saying about how this scholarship removes barriers to their education:
“This scholarship would be of immense help to me as it will alleviate significant financial stress that I will otherwise experience during my student teaching year.â€
"I am amazingly grateful and excited to see how this scholarship opportunity can help me to achieve my dream and finish a master's degree in special education."
Applications for this scholarship will open again in the early spring of 2024 for summer, fall and spring 2024/25 support.
