Students part of award-winning marketing team
Oct. 8, 2021
Three undergraduate students were part of a team that won an award from the Alaska chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The College of Business and Security Management marketing team earned third place in the category 鈥淓vents and Observances (seven or fewer days)鈥 during an online ceremony Sept. 29. The award was based on their work on the 爱污传媒 Arctic Innovation Competition, an annual idea contest that awards over $40,000 in cash prizes and awards.
Student marketing assistants Alanna Bailey, a business administration senior, and accounting sophomores Ivy Packee and Ashley Plys helped plan, market and host AIC 2021, which, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, changed from a one-day, in-person event to a multiday virtual event, with four evenings of semifinals and a 90-minute finals and award ceremony.
Reworking a large, in-person event into a series of virtual events was a major undertaking that gave these students a chance to run their first major event and gain on-the-job experience.
