Federal Relations Summer Internship

UA Federal Relations seeks an intern for a 10-week summer 2025 internship. Current undergraduate students within the University of Alaska system with an interest in government relations or federal policy are encouraged to apply. Applications must include a cover letter, a resume, and two letters of recommendation. Flights to and from Washington, D.C., and housing accommodations in D.C., will be provided by the University. This is a paid internship at a rate of $17.67 per hour.

The Federal Relations Summer Intern will be integrated into the UA federal relations team in Washington, D.C., performing duties to assist in advocating for UA’s federal priorities. This 10-week internship will introduce an overview of government relations and an understanding of the federal policymaking process. The Federal Relations team works to share the UA system’s priorities with Congress, working with the Alaska Delegation and staff as well as Senate and House Committees, and other federal agencies.

The intern will gain insights into the operations of the federal relations team and the benefits it brings to the University of Alaska System. They will have the opportunity to learn about the workings of Congress and the Alaska Delegation. Additionally, the intern will have the flexibility to explore their own areas of interest within federal policy.
