What words of advice do you have for seniors in high school right now?
Start thinking about what you want to do after high school. You don’t need to know exactly, but have an idea.
Who was one person you’d suggest students connect with to get advice and assistance?
There are many people in the university you can connect with for advice and assistance. For instance, your advisor, any °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ staff or students. Everyone is willing to help.
What’s one thing you wish you were told before coming to college?
Come with an open mind. Having an open mind will make it much easier to learn and understand.
Do you have any advice or suggestions about financial aid?
Apply for scholarships you are qualified for, and don’t forget to fill out your FAFSA as soon as possible.
What is your reason for continuing your education? Why are you a student?
I was unsure whether I should attend college. Then I was told how it is not easy working toward a degree; but it will be much harder without a degree. The reason I continue to come back is because of learning — not only the fundamentals of the different classes and subjects, but I’m also learning more about the world and myself and building off of that.
How do you suggest students overcome roadblocks or any challenges they face along the way?
Don’t hide away when you’re facing challenges. Instead, find a way to resolve them and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
What are some things you did that helped you prepare for college?
I made sure I was passing my classes with good attendance. I listened to what people with experience had to say about college.
